Market & Translate (“the app”, “we”) helps Shopify merchants create Shopify Markets, set local pricing, and translate their store content. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and how it is retained and deleted.

Data we access

When you install the app on your Shopify store, we access and store only what is needed to provide the service:

• Your shop domain and a Shopify API access token (to call the Shopify Admin API on your behalf).
• App settings and the markets you create through the app (country, currency, web presence, price list, plan).
• Translation job state and a cache of translated store content (product, collection, page, theme, and metafield text) together with content checksums used to detect changes.
• Monthly word-usage counters used to enforce plan limits.

Data we do not collect

The app does not request, access, or store your customers’ personal data. We do not use the read_customers scope. Translations are applied to store content (your products, pages, and theme), not to buyer information.

How translation works

To translate your store content, the relevant text is sent to Google’s Gemini API for machine translation and the result is written back into your Shopify store natively. Only store content is sent — never customer data. Identical strings are cached so the same text is not sent twice.

Third parties

• Shopify — the platform the app runs on; data is processed under Shopify’s terms.
• Google (Gemini API) — performs machine translation of store content.

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

Data retention and deletion

Translations are written natively into your Shopify store, so they remain in your store even if you uninstall the app. When you uninstall, Shopify sends a shop/redact request and we delete the data we hold for your shop (settings, markets, jobs, caches, usage counters, and session) from our database. You can also request deletion at any time by contacting us.

Compliance webhooks

The app implements Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact,shop/redact). Because the app stores no customer data, the customer requests are acknowledged with no data to return or delete; the shop request purges all of that shop’s data.
